We have experience direct billing to over 10 different insurance providers, and we also do not charge any additional fees to submit your claims directly to your insurance company.

How It Works

Your insurance information must be on file with us prior to your treatment for direct billing to be submitted. If it’s your first treatment with us, or you need to update the insurance information we have on file, please arrive 20 minutes prior to your appointment time or call us 48 hours prior to your appointment.

If you can’t make arrangements to come in earlier, you may be required to pay for your initial treatment upfront and submit it to your benefits provider yourself — which should still have coverage. Then we’ll work with you to ensure the necessary info is on file for your next treatment!

The office staff at Academy Massage Therapy are happy to assist you with your private insurance policy.

As a convenience to our clients, we will submit claims to your insurance company directly whenever possible. We will work our hardest to ensure the accuracy of your claims, but payment by insurance is not guaranteed.

 
  • Your insurance policy is ultimately a contract between you and the insurance company.

    We will do our best to assist you, but you are ultimately responsible for the costs of treatment. We typically take payment prior to your appointment, so if it is your first treatment with us, or if the details of your policy may have changed, it’s important to sort that out with us prior to your treatment.

    This may mean calling us 48 hours prior to your treatment so we have the correct information on file.

  • It’s different for every insurance provider.

    All policies differ in coverage amounts and certain policies require a physician's prescription prior to your treatment. We are experienced in dealing with most types of policies in Manitoba, but it is important that you are aware of the details of your plan.

    Feel free to call us for more information on who we have experience direct billing with, and what information we will require from you.

  • Your insurance provider may request a deductible to be paid to them prior to treatment.

    Some providers may also ask for a prescription from your MD.

    All plans vary in coverage. For example, if 80% of your treatment is covered by your insurance provider, then you will be required to pay the remaining 20% prior to your treatment.

    We do not allow clients to have an outstanding balance with us.

  • We require 2 business days prior to your massage appointment to create your profile for direct billing. If your insurance information is not on file with us prior to your treatment, we will require payment upfront, and we will work with you to ensure your coverage is on file for the next time you see us!

  • It may be! Even if we don’t offer direct billing with your specific provider, you may be able to submit your treatment afterward to your provider — it’s what many of our clients do!

    It just means you’ll have to pay for your treatment upfront, and typically your provider will reimburse you within a few business days after submission.

    Just ask the front desk prior to your treatment if your practitioner is compatible with your benefits plan.

Patient History Form

When you first arrive at Academy Massage, we will require you to fill out a Patient History Form. For your convenience, click here to fill out the form electronically, which you can then print off and bring with you for your first visit. Or, you can log in or create an account through our online booking platform, and fill out the form within your account interface.

If you do not have the patient history form filled out prior to your appointment, we ask that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out the new patient form.
